1. Be in the know

You should definitely be following your company news and be aware of all the various activities happening in its various lines of business. This will not only help you become engaged in your job (which I assure you is great for your personal happiness) but also help with your internal knowledge. It is also a key benefit to know how the company is speaking with its community and customers and keeps you aligned with the company vision.

2. Support your company

Launching social media for a business is not as easy as it seems. Making the social media sites successful is even more of a challenge. Why not help your community manager build the community of your company by following its Twitter page, sharing LinkedIn posts, liking its Facebook page? Every action helps support social media and in turn supports SEO and the findability of your site. Let’s face it. If your company is successful, you will be successful.

3. Show customers your enthusiasm

Customers are more likely to trust companies with engaged, dedicated and motivated employees. I know I do. If you’re in sales, you know that a key ingredient to success with customers is enthusiasm. It is crucial to both gaining and retaining customers and most importantly, getting customers to trust in your company (and in you!). Would you buy from a company that was being trashed by its employees? And, guess what, enthusiasm is contagious! And fun.

4. Show your company your engagement

Every company wants engaged employees. Part of the responsibility lies on your employer but part of the responsibility is also yours. By demonstrating your engagement towards your company, you become a good role model to colleagues and hopefully score some points with your boss. The best managers usually promote and reward engaged employees and good role models.

5. Make a difference

Everyone is proud to work for a successful company. Did you know that simply by following your company’s Twitter page and retweeting a post every now and then, you are contributing to the success of your company? Every online action makes a difference and it starts with you. The more popular a page is, the more popular it becomes.

Don’t be fooled. One person, one like, one follow can make a difference. Stop reading this blog and go follow your company pages right away! ;-)
